How to Read NYPL’s Teen Banned Book Club Titles

Read with us! The New York Public Library's Teen Banned Book Club shines a spotlight on young adult titles that have been the subject of bans or challenges. Each book club pick is made available to NYPL cardholders on the Libby app with no holds or wait times—find out how to access our current title on Libby below! Plus, find more free resources, including our book club discussion guides with suggested questions and activities, free events with our featured authors, and more.
 

Check Out the E-Book on Libby

  1. Make sure you have your NYPL card ready! If you don't have one, you can sign up for one for free online today. Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in New York State can apply for an NYPL card.
  2. Install the Libby app from your device's app store: Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  3. Open Libby and answer the prompt: "Yes, I have a library card." 
  4. Select "Search for a Library" and find The New York Public Library by name.
  5. NYPL's Teen Banned Book Club will show up on The New York Public Library home screen in Libby. Select the featured title to borrow it, and sign in with your NYPL library card barcode and PIN when prompted.

Borrowed titles appear on your Shelf and download to the app automatically when you're connected to Wi-Fi, so you can read them on your device when you're offline. From your Shelf, you can open the book or audiobook to read or listen to the title, or send the book to your e-reader.

  1. Get a library card! Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in New York State can apply for an NYPL card for free online. 
  2. Search the catalog to find the title and request to have it sent to your nearest branch.
