Libraries and archives are dedicated to preserving what might otherwise be lost. In featured displays throughout the third floor of the Library for the Performing Arts now through June 2022, materials from the Jerome Robbins Dance Division, the Billy Rose Theatre Division, and the Music & Recorded Sound Division address how the performing arts have responded to climate change and its potential for loss. Through photographs, posters, sheet music, audio recordings, and more, this exhibition explores how artists have engaged with the environment and how their ephemeral works can inspire long-term action to protect the earth.
This exhibition was originally planned to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in spring 2020.
The third floor opens Monday through Saturday at 11:30am.
