Celebrating its 40th Anniversary Season in 2013–14, San Francisco’s Kronos Quartet has charted new territory for the string quartet, commissioning more than 800 new works and arrangements, collaborating with musicians from around the globe, presenting education programs, and touring world-wide—all through its nonprofit Kronos Performing Arts Association. For the Record features original album artwork, composers' manuscripts and materials, historic performance photos, audio samples, tour memorabilia, and posters.
For the Record is presented in conjunction with Kronos' co-curating of a week of programming (July 24-28) for this summer's Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival, which includes performances by Kronos and other musical explorers.
