The current Lincoln Center Theater production of The Skin of Our Teeth marks the fourth revival of the play on Broadway since it opened in 1942, and the 125th anniversary of playwright Thornton Wilder’s birth. The majority of Wilder’s papers are preserved at the Beinecke Library at Yale University, but Wilder was a prolific writer of letters, and many of these are preserved in the collections of his friends and colleagues.
A few of these letters, each related to The Skin of Our Teeth, are displayed in this case installation on the lower floor of the Library for the Performing Arts, along with photographs of several important productions.
