Each fall at its Library Lions gala, The New York Public Library celebrates the exceptional men and women who have forever changed the fields of arts, letters, and scholarship. This display highlights the inspirations of those we are honored to call this year’s Library Lions. Held in our iconic Rose Main Reading Room, the Library Lions gala has been a distinguished tradition at The New York Public Library for nearly 40 years. Renowned authors and artists such as James Baldwin, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Kazuo Ishiguro, Karl Ove Knausgaard, and Gloria Steinem are among the hundreds of notable talents we have honored. We are proud to continue celebrating these cultural icons who enrich our daily lives through their extraordinary work.
