Annual visit from Musical Theater Workshop
Julie Boyd and Mana Allen brought their students from the Fordham University summer term Musical Theater Workshop to The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts for an orientation workshop and a chance to look at manuscript lead sheets and piano-vocal scores by Broadway songwriters held by the Music Division. The program began in the exhibition Launchpad of the American Theater with a discussion on workshopping for musicals and how it replaced out-of-town previews.
The orientation to LPA and performing arts reseaarch has been a part of the Week 1 curriculum for 3 years. As well as being an instructor in vocal interpretation there, Mana Allen is a veteran volunteer for the Performing Arts Museum.
