  2. A meeting convened by the Mental Health Association of Racine County, Inc. This program examines various aspects of black family life in the U. S. today. Areas covered include black family life today in terms of its roots in slavery, black attitudes toward their cultural background, need to recognize blacks for their social contributions, need to confirm black personhood, black family patterns in the U. S., what white and black families can learn from each other, the myth of black matriarchal structure, tradition of liberation among black women, equalitarian aspects of black families, family strengths and weaknesses, discipline, need for blacks to learn to use social institutions, relations between generations, black attitude toward marriage, and characteristics of the economically successful black family.
