Summary
  1. A discussion on jazz piano and gospel music. In the first half of the program, Khalid Moss, jazz pianist, discusses the evolution of jazz piano covering the styles and contributions of Scott Joplin, Art Tatum, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock and Keith Jarrett. Mr. Moss plays compositions by each and ends the discussion with some of his own compositions. Compositions played: Maple Leaf Rag (S.Joplin); Got the World on a String (played in the Tatum stride style); Parisian Thoroughfare (B. Powell); Well You Needn't (T.Monk); Tell Me A Bedtime Story (H. Hancock); unnamed composition by K. Jarrett; unnamed compositions by K. Moss. The second half of the program discusses the history and impact gospel music has had on other types of music. Sammy Stevens discusses his years in the business and introduces three gospel groups. They are, Herman Hubbard and the Galacians, Reverend H.L. Parker and The Ephesians.
