Latest position as editor-in-chief of Nursing Research Journal; childhood and early education; enrollment in nursing program at Lincoln Hospital in New York; work as nurse at VA hospital at Tuskegee; schooling at West Virginia State College; faculty job at Medical College of Virginia; segregation in nursing education and administration at that time; changes from white to black administrators of black schools; work as acting dean of nursing program at Hampton Institute; work as dean of nursing program at Florida A & M College; activities with Delta Sigma Theta and as member of Women's Africa Committee of the African American Institute and visits to Africa; the fight to integrate the American Nurses' Association and her election to the ANA board; responsibilities as editor with American Journal of Nursing Company; reasons for writing "The Path We Tread, Blacks in Nursing 1854-1984" and difficulties getting it published; honors, writings and lecturing; message to youth.
