Summary
  1. Portraits of jazz trumpeter Miles Davis ranging from the beginning of his career to the 1980s. Collection consists of a studio portrait of Davis (ca. 1950s) and views of Davis during a recording session (ca. late 1950s), which were all probably used for publicity purposes; views of Davis in concert at various locations (ca. late 1940s to 1982); and a view of Davis, roughed up and handcuffed, after being beaten by police outside the Birdland jazz club in New York (1959). Also included is a publicity portrait of former wife Betty, and a view of Davis with an unidentified woman. Full, half and quarter-length portraits are included.
