Local note
  1. The Schomburg Center Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division has two copies of the book; the copy in Sc Rare 326.1 -B (accession no. D524703) is probably one of the books added to the collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the Collection Librarian, and Lawrence Reddick was the Curator; it includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," NYPL's perforated stamp, and the Star symbol stamp. Imperfect: trimmed, bound in vellum-wrapped board binding, with edges colored red. The book does not open well and should not be open beyond 100 degrees. It also has a manuscript notation in ink on the preliminary pages before the title page in french that summarizes the book's content.
  2. Copy in Sc Rare B 15-1 (Lapidus Collection) is a gift, which is part of the Lapidus Collection added to the Schomburg collection in 2015. Bound in its originally issued form with a marbled paper wrapper; (possibly a temporary binding)because the text was sewn on tapes and not stabbed through the side.
