- Mr. Terry briefly traces the development of ballet technique and style and discusses the careers of Maria Tallchief and André Eglevsky. Miss Tallchief and Mr. Eglevsky discuss how style is taught; George Balanchine's style and how he teaches style; how Mikhail Fokin [Michel Fokine] taught style and Eglevsky's experience working with him on Schéhérazade; the style of Marius Petipa's choreography; Balanchine's ballets Sylvia pas de deux and Orpheus as compared to Giselle; the August Bournonville style; preparing the role of Siegfried in Swan lake and the role of Julie in Birgit Cullberg's Miss Julie; Balanchine's Baiser de la fée and Scotch symphony. Tallchief and Eglevsky demonstrate excerpts from The sleeping beauty, Flower festival of Genzano [Blomsterfesten i Genzano] , Swan lake, Apollo (Balanchine), Don Quixote, and Sylvia pas de deux (Balanchine).
