Summary
Documentary on Igor Stravinsky. Numerous interviews and conversations with Stravinsky, including one with Rolf Liebermann, are interspersed with film clips, still shots, and scenes of the composer conducting. Peter Herman Adler also talks with Vera Stravinsky, the composer's wife, Robert Craft, and Reri Grist.
Reel 1 includes a performance of Stravinsky's short opera-ballet, Le rossignol (The nightingale and the Chinese emperor), based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. Producer and conductor: Peter Herman Adler. Choreography: John Butler. Scenery and costumes: Willa Kim. Dancers include: Gregory Mitchell (Fisherman), Lance Westergard (Mechanical nightingale), Wesley Fata (Death).
