Summary
Documentary on the formation of OMO, an experimental ballet company founded by five former members of the San Francisco Ballet: the dancers/choreographers Val Caniparoli, Betsy Erickson, Victoria Morgan, and Kirk Peterson, and the designer Sandra Woodall. The documentary includes in-depth analyses of three works created by the founders: On moving on (chor: Morgan), Accidental or abnormal chromosomal events (chor: Caniparoli and Erickson; scen: Woodall), and Overlay (chor: Peterson; scen/props: Woodall). The analyses include statements by the choreographers, composers, designers, and performers, and are illustrated by rehearsal footage and substantial performance excerpts. Performers include Mario Alonzo, Joanna Berman, Nancy Dickson, Eda Holmes, Erin Leedom, and Antonio Lopez. Michael Smuin, former director of the San Francisco Ballet, also comments on the company's work. Peterson is seen performing a solo in Smuin's To the Beatles, presented by the San Francisco Ballet.
