- Description
- 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (28 min.) : sd., b&w; 3/4 in.
- Summary
- Part of a series of interviews with former members of major modern dance and ballet companies. Peter Sparling talks about his early training at Interlochen Arts Academy, his studies with José Limón at the Juilliard School and his subsequent entry into the Limón company, and his experiences as a member of the Martha Graham Dance Company. Nina Wiener, formerly a member of Twyla Tharp and Dancers, recalls her extended "audition" for Tharp. Both dancers discuss the lessons they learned from their experiences in professional companies, the financial problems of running their own companies, and the influence of critics and criticism. The program concludes with excerpts of Sparling's What she forgot, he remembered (music: Brahms), and Wiener's The condor material.
