Description
  1. 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (28 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
  1. Sallie Wilson and Cynthia Harvey, principal dancers with American Ballet Theatre, discuss the process of preparing to dance dramatic roles in various ballets, with special reference to the dramatic component of Antony Tudor's choreography. Among the ballets they single out are Giselle, Fokin's Les sylphides, Tudor's Pillar of fire, MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet, and Graham's Episodes. Harvey appears in two scenes from Baryshnikov's restaging of Don Quixote, and Wilson is seen in First solo (performed in silence), choreographed for her by Patrice Regnier. In Esoterica balletica, Irene Dowd discusses the effect of exercise on back pain, points out some detrimental aspects of the sit-up, and offers four alternative exercises.
