Summary
  1. Guests are dance historian Debra McCall, a specialist in the Bauhaus dances of Oskar Schlemmer, art and architecture historian James Saslow, and Mel Gordon, an authority on the theatrical works of Nikolai Foregger and other Russian constructivists. They discuss their respective fields of expertise, noting relationships to art and dance history and to performance trends of the present day. Dance excerpts depict a demonstration of Foregger's exercises, directed by Gordon, and three Bauhaus dances (form dance, block play, and pole dance) reconstructed by McCall. In Esoterica balletica, Wendy Shankin, artistic director of Calck Hook Dance Theatre, describes how costumes can be used as a starting point for choreography.
