Description
  1. 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (28 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
  1. Guests are Janis Pforsich, an authority on baroque dancing who directs the dance company Courante, and Jean Kopperud, a clarinettist who has used movement in her performances. They respectively discuss the interaction of music and dance in the baroque period and today. Topics treated by Pforsich include dancing masters, the multi-faceted nature of performers, the minuet, and dance [Feuillet] notation. Miguel Angel Diaz, a member of Courante, demonstrates baroque steps, and the Folie d'Espagne pour femme, danced with castanets, is seen in a recording. Kopperud discusses her recent performance of a piece for clarinet by Stockhausen, which includes the composer's specifications of mime and dance movements. She is seen in Harlequin, a recorded excerpt from this work, choreographed by Jesse Duranceau. In Esoterica balletica, Frances Becker invents her own notation system.
