Description
  1. 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (29 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
  1. Janis Brenner, Ellen Kogan, and Sally Hess, three dancers who have gained recognition as solo performers, discuss how they work on a piece in order to reach an understanding beyond mastery of the steps. They also discuss getting feedback and preparing for a performance. Kogan recalls the lessons she learned from Eugene Loring, and Brenner describes her experience of working on a piece by Mary Wigman. Kogan is seen in excerpts from Heinz Poll's Tristeza, an evocation of Dore Hoyer's choreography, and James Waring's Steeplechase rag. Hess is seen in excerpts of two of her own works, Three small dances for short spaces and Four noble attitudes. Brenner is also seen in her own choreography, an excerpt from Phases of thirty.
