- Summary
- Tap dancers Brenda Bufalino and Fred Strickler talk about choreographing tap dance pieces. Bufalino displays a tap shoe and describes the variety of sounds it can produce; she and Strickler discuss how the whole body is involved in tap dancing. They also discuss the role of improvisation in choreography and performance, and demonstrate the different rhythms associated with ragtime, swing, be-bop, Latin, and the waltz. Performance excerpts featuring each guest are interspersed with the interview; at the end of the program, the two join in an improvisation.
