Summary

1. Guests are Ellen Robbins, who specializes in teaching children, choreographer/teacher Stephan Koplowitz, and his 14-year-old student Damani Howell. They talk about the benefits children can gain from learning to dance and appreciate watching dance; teaching tools such as improvisation, imagery, and compositional exercises; and working with parents. Robbins, whose students are seen in excerpts from A midsummer night's dream and in short works of their own composition, displays dance maps used in designing choreography. Koplowitz and Howell discuss their relationship as teacher and student, and Howell shares his response to a performance of Senta Driver's Survivors (The black trio), an excerpt of which is screened.
