  1. Documentary on the present-day state of black poetry and performing arts in South Africa, emphasizing the growth of the arts as a means of expressing self-awareness and racial identity. Commentators Sophie Mgcina, Carly Dibokoane, Jackie Semela, James Mithoba (name also given as Mthoba), and Samuel Makhubela discuss the prevalence of protest and socio-political themes, the role of traditional tribal arts and the development of new forms, and the contribution of the arts to a sense of black unity. Their remarks are interspersed with scenes of performances, rehearsals, and classes involving adults and children, as well as readings by poets Lesego Rampolokeng and Siphiwe Ngwenya.
