Summary
  1. Film portrait of the School of American Ballet, New York, portrayed through scenes of classes taught by various teachers, auditions for admission, rehearsals for a workshop performance of George Balanchine's Symphony in C, and a rehearsal and performance of a children's dance in Coppélia. Voice-over commentaries by teachers and students give their observations of life at the school. Teachers on screen, in order of appearance, are: Muriel Stuart, Stanley Williams, Antonina Tumkovsky, Andrei Kramarevsky, Felia Doubrovska, Alexandra Danilova, and Suki Schorer. Teachers heard in voice-overs are: Helene Dudin, Richard Rapp, and Elise Reiman. Balanchine briefly appears in the Coppélia rehearsal footage.
