Summary
  1. Documentary on the work of film and video maker Doris Chase, told mainly in her own words, with additional commentaries by Richard Lorber, Ann Eugenia Volkes, and Ann Sargent Wooster. Chase looks back upon her career as a painter and sculptor and notes how these arts influenced her films and videos. She recalls her first multi-media work, a collaboration with the Mary Staton Dance Ensemble, and discusses her most recent projects, collectively called the Concept series, which add an element of theater, and often address feminist themes. Excerpts screened, accompanied by her comments, include: Sara Rudner (1970), Window (1980), Rocking orange (1973), Circles II (1970), Cynthia Anderson (1975), Jacqueline Smith-Lee (1975), Kei Takei (1976), Jonathan Hollander (1977), and Gay Delanghe (1979). Excerpts from the Concept series include: Travels in the combat zone (1982), Electra tries to speak (1982), Thulani (1984), Lies (1980), Mask (1983), and 3 story suite (1983).
