An exchange of letters between artist Eugene Berman and George Balanchine, Mr. Balanchine's secretary Barbara Horgan, and Betty Cage, General Manager of the New York City Ballet. The correspondence was initiated by Mr. Balanchine's desire to elicit Mr. Berman's collaboration for the New York City Ballet's Stravinsky Festival projected for the spring of 1972. The product of the collaboration resulted in designs and scenarios for Pulcinella and Danses concertantes. Revealing Berman's satisfaction and excitement with the project, the correspondence ends a few weeks prior to his death.
