Summary
  1. Dance adaptation of Murasaki Shikibu's The tale of Genji (Genji monogatori), written in the early 11th century. The dance work was preceded by a Heian costume demonstration, which is not recorded on this tape. Following the performance, commentaries are offered by audience members (among them Beate Gordon of the Asia Society and actress Celeste Holm, who narrated the costume demonstration), as well as costume designer Eiko Yamaguchi, dancers Jeff Moen and Yukie Okuyama, and choreographer Saeko Ichinohe.
