Description
  1. 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (60 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
  1. Presentation of a paper by Professor Thubten Jigme Norbu, based on his dissertation regarding the "History and world view of Tibet." The paper, read by Peter Gold, gives a brief history of Tibet, emphasizing its cultural uniqueness and political independence of the past, and correcting China's erroneous claims to its territory. A detailed discussion of the seventeen-point document that Tibet was forced to sign in 1951 and a description of Chinese atrocities since its occupation of the country drive home the reasons behind Tibet's struggle to regain its autonomy. Following the paper, Gold answers questions from the audience, drawing upon his own recent travels in Tibet.
