Introductory remarks / by Jonnie Greene and Dawn Lille Horwitz -- Panel: The white schools and teachers / panelists, Delores Browne, Louis Johnson, Betty Nichols, Walter Nicks, Cleo Quitman, Carmencita Romero, and Marion Spencer ; moderator, Katherine Moore. Dancers discuss their first contacts with ballet, then a predominantly white art, at the School of American Ballet, Ballet Arts, and the schools of Joseph Rickard, Maria Nevelska, Marion Cuyjet, and others. A taped interview with Talley Beatty opens the discussion.

Five noted dance teachers (including Brown) talk about their dance background, how their schools began, and the value of ballet technique.
