Summary
  1. Lecture-demonstration on the one-act divertissement Apollon, La Nuit et Comus, originally created in 1715 in honor of the Duchesse du Maine, and presented at her chateau in Sceaux, France. Although the work was never notated, Catherine Turocy drew upon comparable notated dances of the period to devise new choreography for her reconstruction. Her discussion includes the work's plot, research sources, and the use of space, gesture, and comedic elements in 18th-century choreography. The lecture-demonstration closes with a question-and-answer session.
