Summary
Rehearsal for the Dance in America program The spellbound child, first telecast on May 25, 1981. Choreographer George Balanchine, assisted by Rosemary Dunleavy, works on the dance of the shepherds and shepherdesses, performed by five men and five women. Dunleavy stands in for one of the women. In the first 6 min. of this tape, the dancers listen to a recording of the vocal and instrumental music for this dance; the remainder of the rehearsal is accompanied by a piano reduction.
