Summary

1. Part of the documentation of the week-long tap dancing workshop By word of foot I, presented by the Changing Times Tap Dancing Company on October 13-18, 1980. The tape opens with the conclusion (ca. 2 1/2 min.) of Marion Coles's 1:30PM class, which began on *MGZIC 9-5735 ; Leslie "Bubba" Gaines takes part in the question-and-answer period. The remainder of the tape depicts the 2:30PM class taught by Gaines following Coles's class. Gaines discusses and demonstrates, with Jane Goldberg, a dance on boxes that was originally danced on suitcases at the Cotton Club. He gives examples of some of the other "gimmicks" used by dancers, and describes the origin of his signature jumprope dance. He then teaches and demonstrates various routines. This session continues on *MGZIC 9-5733.
