- Summary
- Ethnographic documentary on Lai haraoba, an annual ritual festival celebrated by the people of the Manipur valley, including the Meitheis. During the course of the festival, which can last thirteen or more days, the entire community shares in re-enacting the myth of the creation of the universe through processions, dancing, music, offerings to the deity, and games such as wrestling and boat-racing. Much of the dancing is performed by maibis, leaders of the ritual. For a recording focusing on the dancing, see *MGZIA 4-3292 Yelhou jagoi.
