- Summary
- Profile of choreographer John Alleyne, now artistic director of Ballet British Columbia, emphasizing his role in the company's recent resurgence. At the beginning of the program the company is seen rehearsing and performing Alleyne's Three visible poems at a gala of the Canada Dance Festival at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on June 18, 1994. Most of the program focuses on the creation and ultimate performance of Alleyne's The new blondes. In interviews Alleyne describes his artistic goals, his work with the company, and his struggles, as a black artist, against racism.
