- Summary
- Judith Friedman Kupersmith, former New York City Ballet dancer, discusses her early training at the School of American Ballet; joining New York City Ballet; and the difficulties of being a teen-aged professional dancer. She comments on the lifelong value of dance training; and how difficult the transition from a dance career can be. Kupersmith discusses her work in psychiatry; her training as a pianist; and her opportunities to play the piano for New York City Ballet's performances of Liebeslieder Walzer. She describes visiting George Balanchine in the hospital and her observations on his symptoms, which were indicative of Jakob Kreuzfeld disease. In closing, Kupersmith comments on the future of New York City Ballet.
