  1. In this operetta, Polly Pluckrose (Russell's role), an orphan child of a British grenadier, is adopted by the 200th Hussars which, as a common crowd-pleaser of the time, were played by young attractive women in tights. Performances were at London's Novelty Theatre, Oct. 4-Dec. 24, 1884, and New York's Casino, Apr. 27-June 18, 1885
