Hogarth, a great painter and engraver, was also among the most popular political satirists of his time, and is now cited as a master of dramatic narrative. Hogarth's ruthless indictment of the moralities of the 18th century's lower, upper, and emergent middle classes translates powerfully to our own time." --Program.
