Ms. Gitelman discusses her early training, becoming interested in the work of Alwin Nikolais and subsequently Hanya Holm; taking a break from dance then returning after nine years; her teaching and work with Nikolais and Murray Louis; working with Hanya Holm; her own choreography and teaching; some observations on current dance scholarship and the field in general; her advice to young choreographers.
