- Symposium. Dance as Liberation, Protest, Celebration and Affirmation. Nana Dinizulu, Joe Nash, Albert Opoku, and John Szwed. 4/21/83. [Recording begins mid-sentence.] Nash (ca. 5 min.) introduces the speakers. Dinizulu (ca. 12 min.) speaks about African dance using examples from Ghana; Szwed (ca. 13 minutes) speaks about African American street festivals and parades in North America and the Caribbean; Opoku (ca. 24 min.) speaks about dance in Africa using examples mainly from ethnic groups in Ghana including the Ashanti; question and answer session (ca. 5 min.; ends abruptly).
