Summary
  1. Documentary on Maceo Anderson (1910-2001) and the Four Step Brothers (originally Anderson, Al Williams, Red Walker, and Sherman Robinson), a group of African-American tap dancers who served as trailblazers, setting standards in their art and breaking down racial barriers. In almost forty years of performances onstage and in films and television, they danced throughout the world, inspiring others to emulate their tap and acrobatic feats. After the group's retirement in 1965, Anderson opened an influential dance school in Las Vegas and started groups such as Little Steps and Third Generation Steps to carry on his work. Anderson and his group are remembered in interviews with their fellow artists, students, and family members. Their dancing (along with that of their contemporaries and successors) is portrayed in film and television clips drawn from The patsy, It ain't hay, Here come the girls, Texaco Star Theatre, the Ed Sullivan Show, Hollywood Palace, the Michael Douglas Show, the Monte Carlo Show, and others.
