Summary
  1. Instruction in four popular ballroom dances of the latter part of the nineteenth century. Instructor Carol Téten provides a brief history of each dance and discusses the variations and refinements that evolved through time. The variations on each dance are first demonstrated in close-up and full-length views, in simplified costumes, to slower tempos; then the dance is performed in costume at full tempo. A list of selected sources appears at the end of the program.
