- In a telephone interview in which only Jerome Robbins' side of the conversation is heard, Jerome Robbins discusses the difficulty of identifying his most meaningful ballets; his pride in the current New York City Ballet production of Fancy free (1944) and in his ballet, The Goldberg variations (1971); the current production of his ballet, Dances at a gathering (1969) in comparison with the original; his idea for an autobiographical work for the theater encompassing all that he knows about the performing arts; performing in China with New York City Ballet; the importance of the National Endowment for the Arts; dance on television; his current work on the ballet Gershwin concerto (1982); his feelings about choreographing Tchaikovsky's music; being misquoted about his work.
