- Summary
- Track 1 (ca. 11 min.) [Begins abruptly.] Recording contains four miscellaneous business letters and instructions to Jerome Robbins' secretary.
- Track 2 (ca. 16 min.) [Recording is slightly fast.] Contains eight letters. In the first letter to an unidentified actress, Robbins offers his apologies for his decision not to cast her in the role of Mother Courage for his show, Mother Courage and her children (1963). The remaining seven letters concern various subjects relating to Robbins' work.
- Track 3 (ca. 16 min.) Contains four letters. In a letter to Lucia Chase, Robbins criticizes his ballet Fancy free (1944) as currently performed by Ballet Theatre. In a letter to actress Anna Magnani, Robbins expresses his anticipation for the success of Mother Courage. In a letter to actress Simone Signoret, Robbins expresses his regret in not being able to work with her on the show. In a letter to an actress named Michelle (surname unknown), Robbins discusses his decision to cast Geraldine Page in the role of Mother Courage, Michelle's possible role as Kattrin, and his efforts to shape the play.

It was produced by Jerome Robbins and Cheryl Crawford, staged by Jerome Robbins and starred Anne Bancroft as Mother Courage. The show opened at the Martin Beck Theatre on Mar. 28, 1963 and closed on May 11, 1963.
