- [Begins abruptly.] Ron Protas briefly announces the events for the 1984 season of the Martha Graham Dance Company, including the upcoming performances at the Paris Opera House and the New York State Theater. Lee Traub describes the development of the Martha Graham Institute and the partnership with the University of California at Los Angeles to help preserve and promote the Graham technique. The representative from Pan American Airlines reads a statement about its support for the Martha Graham Dance Company's tour to Paris.
- In response to questions from the audience Protas and Graham briefly describe the repertory to be performed in Paris; Graham explains the difference between her works Phaedra and Phaedra's dream; how the complexity of Stavinsky's score influenced her approach to the narrative and set for The rite of spring; differences between her forthcoming version of The rite of spring from Massine's The rite of spring, and discusses her experience in the role of the chosen one in Massine's The rite of spring of 1930; Graham explains further the similarities and differences between Phaedra and Phaedra's dream; the ways in which her work and its performance change over time (partially) in response to changes in society; Graham discusses the problems of the company's first tour to Florence and how it differed from their experience in the previous season [gap]; Graham explains her creative process for Phadrea's dream including her use of George Crumb's score; Graham discusses her inspiration for The rite of spring and the characters and stories behind Acts of light [ends abruptly].
