Summary
  1. Telecast of a 1991 documentary, with additional introduction, interview with Robert Swinston of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, and preview of coming dance events by Wendy Perron. Documentary on composer John Cage and choreographer Merce Cunningham at work and at leisure, filmed over an eight-year period and supplemented by archival footage spanning their fifty-year collaboration. In interviews captured at different times and places, Cage, Cunningham, and performers, composers, artists, and other associates discuss aspects of their professional and personal interactions. Dance and music excerpts, recorded in performance and rehearsal, demonstrate the richness and variety of their productions. Full information on these excerpts appears at the end of the program.
