Description
  1. 1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (93 min.) : sd., col. and b&w; 1/2 in.
Summary
  1. Telecast of the documentary Dancemaker, seen here in an abridged version (86 min.) as presented on the PBS series American Masters, preceded by an additional introduction and interview with dance/theater critic Clive Barnes. The documentary features a close-up view of choreographer Paul Taylor and his dance company during a specific period of time (1997-1998), beginning with the first rehearsals for Piazzolla caldera and covering a tour to India, and concluding with the City Center premiere of Piazzolla caldera. This view is juxtaposed with glimpses of the past, provided through archival footage and the reminiscences of Taylor and some of his former dancers. A portrait of Taylor as an artist and individual is created through his own statements as well as the observations of his dancers and associates, critics, and others. In addition to Piazzolla caldera, the many dance excerpts include: Esplanade, Company B, Musical offering, Polaris, Three epitaphs, 7 new dances (Events II, Epic, Duet), Scudorama, Aureole, Airs, Cloven kingdom, Last look.
