Summary

1. Inside/out is a series of outdoor programs in which artists perform and discuss their choreography with audiences in an informal setting. In this program, Trisha Brown reads from written material about her choreographic methods and ideas while dancers from her company perform excerpts from Opal loop, Message to Steve (a recreation of an improvised performance by Steve Paxton), Set and reset, Lateral pass, Cranwell, Newark, and Carmen. Brown comments on the pieces as they are performed. With the exception of the Carmen entr'acte, all pieces are performed in silence. The Inside/out program lasts 55 minutes. The remainder of the tape contains footage of members of the Trisha Brown Company eating and dancing at a nighttime picnic. This footage is very dark.
