Summary
  1. Segment concerning the National the Endowment for the Arts and the funding of art work some call obscene. An exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C. of photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe featuring homoerotic images and child nudity sparked a storm of protest and Congressional lobbying efforts, resulting in the impositon of content restrictions on recipients of NEA grants. Meanwhile, NEA head John Frohnmayer testified that Congress should stay out of his agency's decision making process. At 7:00 min. theatrical producer Joseph Papp debates Rep. Dana Rohrbacher on the importance of the NEA. Includes images of Mapplethorpe's photographs and footage of related activities.
