1. Profile of tap dancer Gregory Hines, winner of a 1992 Tony Award for his performance in the musical Jelly's last jam. In an interview with Lesley Stahl, he discusses his antipathy to the stereotype of the smiling tap dancer; his performances as a child dancer with his brother Maurice; the racism they encountered on tour in the United States; his interracial marriage; his sense of breaking racial barriers in his role as Jelly Roll Morton in Jelly's last jam; performing with ballet star Mikhail Baryshnikov in the film White nights; his estrangement from his brother Maurice, with whom he performed in the film The Cotton Club; his love of family; his enjoyment of working with younger tap dancers; his idolization of Sammy Davis, Jr.; his continuing discomfort with being a performer. Shorter statements are made by his wife Pamela Koslow, and Daria, his daughter from his first marriage. The profile includes numerous excerpts of Hines dancing in Jelly's last jam.
