Summary
  1. Documentary on the Académie de Danse Classique Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo, Monaco, and its founder and director Marika Besobrasova. With Eliane Mazzotti and Thierry Sette, dance teachers in the school, Besobrasova discusses her philosophy of teaching, which aims to help dancers transcend pure technique and seek higher levels of artistic expression. Rudolf Nureyev, an inspirational figure, is seen in a brief film clip from I am a dancer, describing his concept of the dancer's body as an instrument for choreography. Students of the Académie are glimpsed at various activities, but are most often seen in ballet class. An extended sequence shows Besobrasova teaching children of 3 to 6 years old, assisted by older students. In a sequence depicting the school's 2002 examinations, a young male student performs an adagio choreographed by Aleksandr Pushkin, Nureyev's teacher; others dance a brief excerpt from George Balanchine's Divertimento no. 15.
