Summary

1. Playwright Dael Orlandersmith discusses her career with Newsday theatre critic Linda Winer. The focus of the conversation is her recently produced play Yellowman and the controversy it engendered, but Orlandersmith also discusses her early career as an actor, her frustration with the limited range of roles she was offered, her decision to pursue playwriting, and some of the writers whose work she admires.
